Screen Printing at Spike Island

I just finished a lovely course with the truly wonderful Irena Czapska at Spike Island Printmakers. The first image was a 12 layer print I attempted. It was a learning experience. There's a bit where the skin is overlapping the hat which bugs me but I'm hard to please!

The following images are monoprints made using wax crayons and coloured water-soluble wax crayons as well, plus of course the usual acrylic mixed with medium. It's a fast and furious process which you can't really edit, you just have to keep working over the top if you want to change anything.

You can see with the 4 head portraits that they are all from the same screen which is continuously re-worked until you are happy to stop (mmm, probably never..!).
